Less is More 82 & Retrosketches 26

I found some crafty time late last night and made a card for Less is More 82 and Retro Sketches 26.  It's a 3-2-1 challenge at Less is More and for my card I chose to use 3 colors, 2 flowers, and 1 word (or bow).

I loved the simplicity of the sketch at Retro Sketches this week and I think I've managed to link it in time.  The last two cards I made for RetroSketches didn't make the deadline. :)

Thanks for your visit today!

Less is More & CASology

I was determined to make a card last night so I played along with my favorite challenge, Less is More.  The challenge, ending today, was to use tearing.  Eek! I was determined to give it a try.  I paired it with the cue word from CASology: green.

I tore a piece of PTI rustic white cardstock and stamped it with SU French foliage.  I added it to a rustic white card base and added some button, twine, and a sentiment.  I had no idea what I was going to do, and I am pleasantly surprised by how this turned out.

While I'm at it, here is a card I made a week or so ago using colors from CR84FN 60: blue, purple, and green.  Obviously missed that one by a mile!  I also used the sketch from the Hero Arts August challenge.

And a card made for Retrosketches 24.  Missed that one, too, but I still had fun. :)

Dynamic Duos 15

I have two cards that I made using the colors from Dynamic Duos 15 - pink and green.  I started both cards a few nights ago using sketches from the Hero Arts August contest, but wasn't happy with the way they were working out.  Last night I scrapped the sketches and used simplified designs that made me happier.

For the panels on both cards, I stamped flowers from the Hero Arts lotus leaves set.  LOVE those flowers.  I inked them using two colors of Memento inks.  To make the sentiment strip on the first card I simply cut a rectangle out of scrap cardstock and used a circle punch to notch the corners.  I'm sure this is in everyone's standard book of tricks, but I felt brilliant when I thought of it!  :)  The sentiment on the second card is a Hero Arts sentiment that I fussy cut.

One Layer Wednesday 100

I've missed a lot of One Layer Wednesday challenges due to being gone this summer, but I didn't to miss this 100th challenge.  It's all about transportation and I used PTI fly away.   Since it's a square card, I'll also enter it into CAS-ual Fridays 65.

Thanks for visiting.

Cattails

The cue this week for CASology # 5 is "pond."  I don't have a lot of stamps with pond images, but my Wplus9 Guiding Light set has two cattail images.  I combined the larger of the cattail images with the gorgeous colors of Play Date Cafe 144.  I suppose blue and green would have made more sense, but I rather liked the idea of using pink, orange, and yellow instead. :)

I inked a square acrylic block with Memento dandelion, tangelo, and rosebud.  I spritzed it with water and then inked directly onto the card base.   I stamped the cattail and sentiment in Memento rich cocoa.

It's addicting to make these ink splodges, for lack of a better word, as you never know exactly how they will turn out.  Each one is slightly different.  My favorite is the first one that I have matted white on white.

Thanks for visiting!

PDCC 143

Just popping in with a last-minute entry into PDCC 143.  The beautiful color scheme was just the push I needed to make a Christmas card.  Last year at this time I had made lots; this year I have a grand total of three!

I used scraps from my scrap box for the three colors of cherry, mint julep, and jade.  The flower is a PTI die, the leaves are a Sizzix die, and the scalloped border is a Fiskars edge punch.  The sentiment is  Hero Arts stamped in Color Box frost white.

Thanks for dropping by!

Blue and Green

We've just returned from eleven days on the road.  We had a fabulous trip to Glacier National Park in Montana where we spent six nights in our cozy tent followed by a couple of days of fun at Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho.  We saw thirteen grizzly bears in Glacier, mostly from a distance, thank goodness, so that was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Last night I had to play along with my favorite challenge, Less is More, which I've been missing the last few weeks.  The challenge this week is to use blue and green.

For my first card I paper pieced a flower stamp that I picked up at Michaels a while back.  I used two shades of blue for the flowers.  The sentiment is Fiskars.  I ran the main panel through the Cuttlebug with my PTI linen impression plate for some texture.

For my second card I used a favorite image from Hero Arts delicate leaf clusters.  I inked it first in green and then rock and rolled the edges in navy blue.  I spritzed it lightly with water and then stamped.  I added the sentiment in navy.  The first one is stamped on PTI rustic white and the second is stamped on a piece of watercolor paper and then impressed with a PTI impression plate.

I'm looking forward to doing some blog hopping and getting caught up with everyone.  If you've made it this far, here are a few photos from our trip.
