Dynamic Duos and Anniversary Wishes

The color scheme at Dynamic Duos is so fresh and pretty this week.  This card has me thinking about spring, even though the temperatures have been freezing recently.  Sadly, I didn't plant any tulips this year.  I'll be regretting that come springtime.  I used the pretty tulips in PTI floral fusion #11 for this card, along with Memento bamboo leaves and cantaloupe.  I really like these colors together.

I'm also popping in today to say happy anniversary to Darnell and Mister, who are celebrating 42 years today.  Darnell's posts are such a joy to read.  They are full of humor, zest, and kindness.  What a fabulous lady!  I don't care much for my card , but I'm out of time today and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to send anniversary wishes to Darnell and her Mister.

Ardyth and Darnell have asked us to share our own wedding pictures, so I snapped a quick picture of one of our photos.  In July we will celebrate 16 years of marriage.  Last week I was driving home with my 7-year old when she asked me, "How did you know Daddy was the person you should marry?"  We talked about that for a while and at the end of our conversation she said, "I think you picked the right daddy for me." Phew! I'm glad she approves.

Thinking of You

Last night before bed I made a fast one-layer card for this week's Dynamic Duos and CASology challenges.  It was simple to combine orange and green with leaves to make a quick fall card.  I masked a panel and stamped my favorite leaf from SU French Foliage, using the rock and roll technique to add a bit of green along the leaf edges. This was a five-minute card, which doesn't happen very often for me. :)

I also decided to share one last Less is More card using silver that I didn't post yesterday.  I hadn't decided if I liked it or not, but this morning I decided that I do! :)  I punched flowers out of a shimmery silver paper to create a Christmas wreath.  I've seen a lot of wreaths made out of punched shapes lately, and I wanted to give it a try.  I tried it with a sentiment, too, but prefer it without.

Yesterday morning while tromping about in the woods with my dog, I was surprised by this lovely owl as it swooped down right in front of us.  It drifted up into a tree where it stayed long enough for some pictures.

Thanks for your visit today.

Dynamic Duos 18

The colors for Dynamic Duos #18 are red and green.  I had thought I might make a Christmas card, and I really should have since I've only made three so far this year.

However, I had my PTI floral frenzy set out because I used it on yesterday's ColourQ card.  As I was getting ready to put it away, I thought the flowers might look nice stamped in red, so I used it to make two cards for Dynamic Duos.

I love the two-part sentiment in this set.  On the inside of the card it says, " . . . you're in my thoughts today."  This will make a cheery card to send to my husband's grandmother, who has not been well lately.

Thanks for visiting.

Dynamic Duos 15

I have two cards that I made using the colors from Dynamic Duos 15 - pink and green.  I started both cards a few nights ago using sketches from the Hero Arts August contest, but wasn't happy with the way they were working out.  Last night I scrapped the sketches and used simplified designs that made me happier.

For the panels on both cards, I stamped flowers from the Hero Arts lotus leaves set.  LOVE those flowers.  I inked them using two colors of Memento inks.  To make the sentiment strip on the first card I simply cut a rectangle out of scrap cardstock and used a circle punch to notch the corners.  I'm sure this is in everyone's standard book of tricks, but I felt brilliant when I thought of it!  :)  The sentiment on the second card is a Hero Arts sentiment that I fussy cut.

Less is More 71 & Dynamic Duos 6

It's a one layer challenge at Less is More this week and we're asked to use a flourish.  I didn't think I had any flourishes, but I rummaged through my stamps and found a couple that I hope will qualify! :)

First up are these ornaments.  I believe they are by Stampendous, although I don't have the original packaging.  Aren't those flourishes on the ornaments?  I used the beautiful pink and grey color combination from Dynamic Duos and made my first Christmas card of the year.  Woo hoo!

Supplies:
Paper: PTI white
Stamps: Stampendous, Hero Arts sentiment
Ink: Memento rosebud, London fog
Other: Casa Collection ribbon

Second, I used this sentiment from a TPC Studio set called butterfly collage.  I'm hoping that those brackets on either side of the sentiment are considered flourishes.  I used the butterfly from the set and did some simple masking.

Supplies:
Paper: PTI white
Stamps: TPC Studios butterfly collage
Ink: Memento grape jelly, sweet plum, lilac posies, lulu lavender

Not Square!

The challenge at Less is More is to make a CAS card that is not a square or a rectangle.  I decided I wanted to make a tag-shaped card, and when I Googled tag cards this one by Nicole Heady popped up.  I liked the scored line as well as the fact that at the top of the tag, the front and back are adhered together.  I also decided to join in with Dynamic Duos for the first time, and used their monochromatic challenge to use a light and dark blue.

For my card I used PTI round and round, which I seem to be using quite a lot lately.  I stamped it in VersaMagic Aegean blue and ocean depth.  To finish the card I added a couple of clear gems, two Martha Stewart butterflies, and a ribbon and button treatment a the top.  The paper is PTI rustic white.

Thanks for visiting!
