When I saw Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge for this week, my heart sank. Use an outline stamp and color it. I don't color. I paper piece to avoid coloring. I generally avoid outline stamps to avoid coloring.
I always admire the beautifully colored images on other stamper's blogs, but sadly, I do not own a single Copic marker. I do have a very old box of Prismacolor pencils, so last night I pulled them out to practice my coloring skills while hubby and I watched a movie.
A few months ago I bought this gorgeous Hero Arts Long Stemmed Flower stamp. I usually avoid stamps like this because . . . I don't like to color. Have I said that enough? I love these gorgeous poppies, though, so I decided to be brave.

I used four shades of red on each flower and then blended them with baby oil. It took forever, but I'm pretty pleased with the results, and I always love red on kraft.
Go easy on me, all you fabulous Copic certified stampers extraordinaire! :)

Beautiful card and awesome coloring job!! You should try it more often =D
well... i think you should definitely color more, ann! your card is gorgeous! but i know what you are saying about coloring (i'm still not completely comfortable with my copic skills, but i keep trying, hee hee!). thank you for your lovely comment on my card. waving hi from tacoma!
Ann, even though you don't like to colour, you do it so well! This card is beautiful! I don't own copics either. I have my blender pens to use with ink, I have aqua painters (that I rarely use), and I have a few Inktense pencils, and I have my daughter's colouring pens, LOL! I'm still learning how to colour. I like the look of coloured images so much that I keep on trying. You colour so nicely, I think you should keep on trying, too. :-)
this is beautiful!
I'm definitely NOT a colourer extraordinaire - but this is absolutely gorgeous Ann!
Well, like you I do not own any Copic markers and I hesitate to color. HOWEVER...your coloring on these flowers is OUTSTANDING! Maybe worth trying more often...this card is stunning!
You certainly have the skills Ann, if not the pens :) These are beautifully coloured,so rich and intense. I have never heard of using baby oil to blend...do you apply it with a cotton bud?
Gorgeous card as always :)
