Less is More: Neutrals!

The challenge at Less is More is to use neutrals (white to black and any shades of beige, brown, or grey).  Oh, I love me some neutrals.  I do love color, too, but there is something so soothing about shades of brown and so classic about white and black together.  I got a little carried away.
I made three cards using Hero Arts Just Saying Hi and Brilliance lightning black ink.  I have been loving this ink lately; it has a great shimmer to it. I used the same basic layout for all three cards.   The first two are on PTI vintage cream and the third is on PTI rustic white

Then I decided to play a little bit with tea dye distress ink.  I have admired so many beautiful cards made with Stampin' Up's French Foliage set, so when Lynn at The Mango Boys and Me listed her set for sale, I snatched it right up.  It is just gorgeous.  This started out as a one layer card using masking.  I didn't like how the sentiment stamped in distress ink, so I cut it down and matted it onto a new card base.

Finally, I took the one-layer card I had made for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge and turned it into a two-layer card.  I had made a boo boo on the backside of the card, so it needed to be cut down and matted.  It uses Close to My Heart stamps.

Wow! You've been busy! I love your set of phone cards - those images are perfect for the neutrals challenge.

Your French Foliage card is gorgeous! I love the inked edges and the border.

I have a few one layer cards I need to mat as well. Glad I'm not the only one! :) Love those flower images!

The phone cards are just beautiful Ann - I really like that side block of dark colour. I'm glad you managed to get the French Foliage set and you've already got off to a great start with it! Your OLW card looks just as lovely matted I think.

You're on a roll Ann - these are just fab! I love old fashioned telephones, and I'd so like to have one of the old bakerlite phones. But the card that I adore is the one with the French Foliage - so pretty, love the punched border too!

Oh, I love them all!
I find distress ink is tricky for stamping sentiments, since it bleeds. One trick that's worked for me is to condition the stamps - even ones that work with regular ink - or to use first Versamark, then distress ink. Somehow it gives it more to cling to, I guess?

What a brill set of cards. The phone ones are so quirky especially like the old fashioned Hello in this day and age of text messages it's so appropriate.

French foliage is fab and love how you've used it and your last card is very serene. x
