CPS 244

Good Morning!

I'm just popping in with a quick card I made using the sketch at Card Positioning Systems. I really liked the simplicity of the sketch this week.  I flipped the sketch for my card.  I used two strips of patterned paper across the top and an AMuse stamp.  While I'm a clean and simple gal at heart, it really felt like it was missing something, so I added the ribbon between the two red strips of patterned paper.  Better, although now that I'm looking at it I'm not so sure about the bling.  That may have to come off! :)

Supplies:
Paper: PTI kraft, PTI white, Colorbok patterened paper
Stamps: AMuse
Ink: Brilliance coffee bean
Other: ribbon from stash, prismacolor pencils, bling from stash

PDCC96 and CPS 233

Today has been one of those leisurely days at our house where everyone is occupied and happy. That means I've had a little bit of time to be crafty during daylight hours, which is a change for me! For this card, I combined the sketch at Card Positioning Systems with the colors at Play Date Cafe.

For the focal point I used some flowers by Recollections that I picked up at Michaels. I used a Sizzix leaf die cut for the two elements on either side of the flower and a Nestie as the square background element. I couldn't decide if I wanted a sentiment or not, so I tried it both ways. I'm still undecided, although I'm leaning toward the card with the sentiment. :)

Supplies:
Paper: PTI vintage cream, green from stash
Stamps: PTI sentiment
Ink: Versamagic gingerbread
Others: Recollections flower, button from stash, Sizzix die

CPS Sketch # 209

This week I was introduced to the CPS Sketch Challenges. I typically play along with the Less is More challenge and the One layer Wednesday challenges at Simplicity and Styles Inc., so this is quite different from the clean and simple, often one-layer designs I have posted up to now.

Like most scrapbookers and card-makers, I do love beautiful papers, and I recently picked up a Memory Makers paper pad on clearance called English Garden. The beautiful designs with flowers and fruit remind me so much of my grandmother who passed away a few years ago. I wanted to use the papers for my Mother's Day cards, and decided this week's sketch at CPS would be perfect.

Here is the sketch:

And here are the two cards I made:

I'm really pleased with how these turned out. I don't have any Mother's Day sentiments, so I designed my own on the computer as I do most years. I also made my own frame to print the sentiment on. It seemed too stark and white, so I sponged VersaMagic wheat along the edges. I think it looks better against the slightly aged and old-fashioned appearance of the paper.

Thanks for visiting!

Supplies:
Paper: PTI white card base, Memory Makers English Garden
Ink: Versamagic wheat for sponging
